Trinity & Ian - Engagement Session

Some couples just get each other, and photographing them feels less like work and more like hanging out with old friends. In this case, they are old friends, and we had a blast catching up and creating some cool ass memories, if you ask me.

Trinity is a local realtor here in Dayton and Ian owns Defiance Strength and Conditioning (if you know, you know). They're young, magnetic, and fun as hell, and this session was such a perfect blend of who they are: a little grit, a little glam, and a whole lot of love.

We planned their engagement session around two of their favorite things: motorcycles and that golden-hour glow. Ian brought his Harley Davidson and we leaned into the vintage, edgy vibes. We started up on a Downtown Dayton rooftop, soaking up the sunlight and letting the shadows play as the sun dropped low. Later, we headed to the industrial part of the arts district, where the mood shifted a bit—grittier, moodier, and full of texture. It was the perfect contrast to the rooftop’s soft glow.

They move so naturally together. It's wild how little direction they needed. Every little glance and touch just flowed, and I felt like I was just lucky enough to be there documenting it all.

Fun detail: Ian wore some of his newest Defiance merch during the shoot and it seriously fit the mood. Sharp, bold, and effortlessly cool.

And something that made this session even more special—my incredibly talented friend and fellow photographer Brianna traveled all the way from North Carolina to help shoot this one with me. She also captured some behind-the-scenes moments that I’ll treasure forever. I don’t often get to be in the story while I’m documenting it, and having her there meant so much.

It’s been such a joy to photograph these two. I was there when Ian proposed, at the same spot where they used to watch the sunset when they first started dating. And now I get to be there for their wedding day this fall at The Brightside, one of the coolest venues in Dayton. It’s been a full-circle kind of journey and I couldn’t be more honored to capture it.
