Summer Senior Session on the Farm

When I first got the inquiry for Brody’s senior session and learned about how he spends his free time, I knew we had to make his photos truly reflect him. Senior portraits aren’t just about snapping a few good shots—they should showcase personality, interests, and the things that make this stage of life unique.

Brody is an outdoorsman through and through. If he’s not out hunting or fishing, he’s doing something for 4-H, or soaking up nature in one way or another. So what better place for his session than a local farm near Middletown, Ohio! With open fields, rustic barns, and golden-hour light filtering through the trees, it was the perfect setting to capture his laid-back, adventurous spirit.

As we wandered through the property, Brody was completely in his element. Whether leaning up against an old wooden fence, standing tall with a fishing rod in hand, or just taking in the view, every shot felt like him. The best photos always come when seniors feel comfortable and connected to their surroundings, and this session was proof of that.

To end the evening, we made our way to Germantown Dam, where we caught an absolutely breathtaking sunset. The sky transformed into dreamy cotton candy hues, illuminating the river in soft pinks and purples—one of those moments that makes you stop and take it all in. As the last light faded, we got creative and used the glow of Brody’s truck headlights to capture some seriously cool silhouette shots, adding the perfect dramatic touch to an already unforgettable session.

Senior year is such a milestone, and I love when sessions go beyond the typical and truly reflect a student’s passions. Whether it’s the outdoors, sports, music, or something else entirely, incorporating those personal touches makes for the kind of photos that will be cherished for years to come.

Brody’s session was a perfect reminder of why I love what I do—capturing memories in a way that feels authentic and timeless.

Thinking about a senior session that truly represents you (or your senior)? Let’s make it happen! I’d love to plan something special.
