The Evans Family
"Alexa, play Forever in Blue Jeans by Neil Diamond" 👖
Some sessions just have a way of coming together so perfectly, it feels like they were meant to be. This was one of them. For months, I had Neil Diamond’s Forever in Blue Jeans stuck in my head—playing on repeat in my mind like a song that refuses to be forgotten. It wasn’t just the melody; it was the feeling it evoked—warmth, nostalgia, the quiet beauty of everyday life. I started dreaming of how I could bring that feeling to life through photography, and one idea kept calling to me: an entirely black and white lifestyle session.
But I needed the right couple—the kind of couple who wouldn’t just go along with my vision but would make it their own. And then, the stars aligned.
From the moment I walked into their home, I could feel the love woven into the everyday moments. This family shares a deep connection—one that’s beautifully effortless and filled with warmth.
Grant arrived home from work, greeted his wife with a kiss—the kind that speaks of years of love and partnership. He loosened his tie, swapped his work clothes for his favorite pair of blue jeans, and stepped into the role he cherishes most: husband and father.
The two boys ran to him with excitement, and soon, music filled their home. Sitting at the piano, Grant played while the boys joined in, their laughter mixing with the notes as their mother watched.
As the evening stretched on, they moved outside to the front porch, letting the golden light of the setting sun wash over them. The kids ran barefoot through the open field, their laughter echoing across the wide, quiet space they call home. Hand in hand, mom and dad watched them, taking in the simple beauty of the life they’ve built together, and soaked in the last few moments of the gorgeous summer sunset.
This session was more than just photos—it was a glimpse into their world, a reminder that the most beautiful moments are often the ones that happen when no one is trying to create them.
Some stories write themselves, and this was one of them. The music, the laughter, the quiet in-between moments—it all came together so effortlessly, as if it was always meant to be. And now, this family has these memories preserved in a way that feels both nostalgic and timeless.
There’s something timeless about black and white photography—the way it strips away distractions and lets the emotion, the connection, and the story shine through. I’ve been wanting to shoot an entire session in black and white for a while now, and this felt like the perfect moment to do it. It was all about capturing the raw, real beauty of this family’s love in a way that felt classic and enduring—just like the song that inspired it.
I truly cannot pick a favorite from this session, but I’d love to hear—do you have one?
